Kadayawan 2009: Highlights!!!
It made me feel like a real photographer. It's here when I experienced to be on the streets capturing some children dancing and being banged with their props... hahaha... To show a few of my shots, here's it...
Here's a shot from the street dancing. It's very lively and colorful. With the beat of the drums, expectators join in dancing at the side walk. P. S...

Cebu City and Sinulog - A Glimpse
I've been to Cebu City when I was young. It's more than a decade already when I had that trip, my so-called farthest trip at the age of 8. As far as I can remember, one of the landmarks we visited was the Magellan's Cross. It symbolized the first mark of Christian settlement in the Philippines as well as the start of the Spanish colonization.
I had fun during our vacation in Cebu, and I told myself that, 'This place was discussed in our Civics and Culture subject and I'm glad to have visited to what is part of our history'.
It's such a memorable event of my life and to capture that moment, we took some photos from the landmarks we've been. I thought of putting it here on my blog yet unfortunately, the quality of the photos diminished... So, I asked a friendster buddy of mine if I can borrow Cebu City photos of his. He permitted me, so I got two. :)
In this photo, you'll see the Sto. Niño Shrine. A festival atmosphere is what you'll experience here as the people flock and rejoice in the name of Sto. Niño - popularly known the Sinulog Festival.
Aside from the people flocking at the shrine, there are other activities in the city. There are street dancing, exhibits, bazaar and a lot more. It is celebrated every month of January. So, it's a first quarter must see festival in the Philippines.
I do hope to visit Cebu City during the Sinulog Festival and experience the merriments. It will be a renewed experience to what I had when I was young. Viva Cebu!

A Definite Traffic

A TRAFFIC OF DABAWENYOS LOOKING FOR A JOB.
Threatened by the swine flu? Definitely not for these Dabawenyos who wanted to land a job here and abroad.
In remembering the Philippine Independence, the Dabawenyos made a huge traffic inside the venue of a local jobs fair. It is a unique way of fighting for freedom from unemployment... A number of job seekers and employers flocked in this 3-day event sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment - Davao Region.
In this event, I have seen a lot of unemployed Dabawenyos searching for a job and selling their own selves to the respective employers. I have seen them striving to make the employer impressed with their attitude during the interview. I also witnessed the happy faces of some who were 'hired on the spot'.
Hmmm... I do hope that more jobs fair like this will happen in Davao City. Somehow, I would want to see a lesser traffic of Filipinos looking for jobs.

Freedom of Expression
In line with the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, here are some of the photos I've taken from Manila, Bohol, and Davao that shows how I express things through photography - with freedom.
Actually, these photos were supposed to be my entries for a contest. Unfortunately, I submitted late and so my photo entries were not accepted anymore. I can't say that I have the best shots to boast for such a grandiose competition but at least my photos caught some details that you can't see often.
I consider myself as a hobbyist in the field of taking pictures. Though I'm only using a digital camera, I am proud to say that I can also make good shots yet unlike those who have DSLRs, they have better.

Preparations for the Philippines' Independence Day

There are 3 days to go before the Independence Day of the Philippines. Wow... Our country will then be 111 years old. In preparation for the Independence Day, the Philippine flags are seen on the corners of Philippine highways and landmarks. Aside from that, jobs fair will be conducted to cut the unemployment rate in the country and some entertainment activities will be held with great Filipino talents.
With the celebration of the Philippine Independence, I do wish that the country will move forward and have fruitful years to come.
The photo that you are seeing at the left was taken from the Davao International Airport. Here you'll see the flags of the Philippines waving with pride as the Independence Day comes nearer. If you'll try to look closer, you'll see a plane above the flags. I hope that our country will soar high like that plane.
Happy Independence Day, Philippines!!! Mabuhay!!!
